BASIL {Tulsi} 

Ocimum tenuiflorum

  • Ocimum tenuiflorum, commonly known as holy basil, tulasi or tulsi, is an aromatic perennial plant in the family Laminance. It is native to the Indian sub continent and widespread as a cultivated plant throughout the Southeast Asian tropics.
  •  Usually people describe three different types of tulsi
  • Green leaf or “Rama” Tulsi.
  •  Purple leaf or “Krishna” Tulsi
  • Wild or “Vana” Tulsi, also sometimes called “Forest” tulsi.
  •  There are more than 18 types of Tulsi all over the world.

      •  Its leaves are used in temples for the worship purposes and also on the several occasions such as marriage. A Hindu house is considered incomplete without the Tulsi plant in the courtyard. Tulsi is believed to promote longevity and life long happiness.
